Let us pray to the Lord.
As Orthodox Christians, we are called to pray for one another. This page is our "Prayer List." Please keep the people listed on this page in your prayers. If you would like to be added to the prayer list or would like to add someone, please e-mail the name(s) so that they may be included. Please be sure to notify me as to when to remove the name(s) from the prayer list, otherwise the request will be removed after 90 days. Thank you.
- Please add Fr. Peter and Presv. Despina Leventis of Casper, Wyoming to your prayer lists. May God grant them both a speedy recovery. (posted April 18, 2008)
- Sonia Belcher, Director of Admissions at Hellenic College/Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, fell asleep in the Lord on February 20, at the age of 31. Please pray for her husband Dn. Nicholas Belcher, Assistant Director of the Office of Vocation and Ministry at Hellenic College, and their 4-month-old son, Andrew. (posted February 22, 2008)
- We received an update on Dn. Daniel Payne. We offer thanksgiving to God!! Dn. Daniel has been released from the Mayo Clinic. (See below for a note from his wife, Elizabeth.)
Our time at Mayo's is almost through. Although the tests on Dn. Daniel's spinal fluid show residual signs from the infection, there is no more evidence of bacteria and the CT scans showed improvement in the damage to his GI tract. They are adjusting meds to help with some of the damage from the disease, but I think he will be released in the next day or two.
The final test for Whipple's came back negative and they said at this point they will never know which bacteria it really was. (Or else God healed him of the Whipple's; it wouldn't surprise me.) The good thing about that is not having to worry about it coming back (the recurrance rate for CNS Whipple's is 60%; it will be good not to have that hanging over our heads).
Fr. Nick and the Holy Anargyroi community have been so wonderful. We're going to stay at the house for a bit, to help him build up strength for the trip, then head back to TX.
It will be quite a while before he's back up to full strength, but it definitely looks like we are past the worst of it....it's only four more months 'til we hit the one year mark with this so hopefully he will finally be free and clear of it all by then. With God's grace, he will get his wish from last autumn of being able to serve at the altar for Pascha.
I know we could not have made it this far without all of you - even those of you whom we do not know - and the amazing support and prayers that have been offered ceaselessly on our behalf. We are humbled and grateful beyond belief...
In Christ,
Dka. Elizabeth(Posted January 18, 2008)
